QRC MUT Race Team
Join the Quicksilver MUT Race Team
The Quicksilver Running Club (QRC) isn’t just a community; it’s a competitive force in the USATF Pacific Association (PA) Mountain Ultra Trail (MUT) Grand Prix. Whether you are a podium contender or prefer to take a more sociable approach to races, our team needs your finishes!
What is the MUT Grand Prix?
The Grand Prix is an annual series of designated trail and ultra-marathon races across Northern California and Northern Nevada. Organized by the Pacific Association of USATF, it is an opportunity for clubs and individuals to compete for annual rankings and a year-end prize purse.
Why Run for QRC?
Team Spirit: It is a lot of fun, motivates us to train for a goal race, creates some fun club competition, and is a good way to get to know other club members.
Every Finish Counts: You don't have to be an elite athlete to score. Because we compete in multiple team divisions (Women’s, Men’s, Mixed), your finish could be the one that secures a podium spot for the club.
Local Pride: As the hosts of the Quicksilver 100K/50K, a cornerstone race in the Grand Prix, we take pride in showing up strong for the series.
How Scoring Works:
Individuals are scored in 10-year age groups. This is independent of the team competition.
Three teams of three runners are scored in the Women’s, Men’s, and Mixed categories by strategically selecting which of our top finishers should score for each team to give us the best chance of beating the other teams. For example, it may be more beneficial to count our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fastest men as a team, while allocating our fastest man and two fastest women to the Mixed Team. You don’t have to worry about the details of this process though. Team Captain, Gary, will take care of the score allocations.
Distance Multipliers: The longer the race, the more it's worth! A 100-miler earns 3.3x the points of a 50K.
Season Standings: Our final club standing is based on our top seven race performances of the year.
